Can you send me an email, so I can send you back a debug version of WinSCP to track the problem? Please include link back to this topic in your email. Also note in this topic that you have sent the email. Thanks.

Disappearing WinSCP UI.

Hi,

I found out that WinSCP UI disappears when the local and remote directories are incorrect.
If you make the remote directory "\" and the local points to an existing directory, the UI stays on the screen.

Hope this helps.

To generate log file, enable logging, log in to your server and do the operation and only the operation that causes the error. For posting extensive logs you may use pastebin or similar application. Note that passwords and passphrases not stored in the log. You may want to remove other data you consider sensitive though, such as host names, IP addresses, account names or file names (unless they are relevant to the problem). If you do not want to post the log publicly, you may email it to me. You will find my address (if you log in) in my forum profile. Please include link back to this topic in your email. Also note in this topic that you have emailed the log.

Though log file from 3.7.1 is of no use for me.

Can you post a log file?

Hi Martin,

Now it is getting a little more interesting... I can login to the remote server and upload download files successfully maybe 1 out of 5 times. For the remaining, it is still the same problem - WinSCP disappeard from the screen but can be found in Windows Task Manager's process list.
My version of WinSCP is 3.7.1 It is pretty old, but this is the only version the company alows me to download from company website. My windows is XP with SP3. Remote server is Ubuntu.

Where can I find the log file? It is not in the WinSCP directory.
Thanks!

WinSCP disappear after user authentication

WinSCP client disappear every time after user authentication. I can see the last message is "Reading remote directory" or somthing like this. But I can see the process is still running in the Windows Task Manager.
I can use Putty to SSH into remote server use same useId and password without problem. And I can use FileZilla (SFTP) with the same userid and password without problem.
Can someone help me with this?

Thanks!
