Re: SFTP with Secure FTP 2.0 and VMWARE

Please login with Filezilla, enter the virtual directory and send me the content of its message log. Thanks.

BTW: For PKI authentication with Filezilla, use Pageant.

Re: SFTP with Secure FTP 2.0 and VMWARE

Hey no problem at all.

I just want to see WinSCP be the next big thing.

File Zilla does not have good key support at all.

PKI is an important factor. My FTP Server uses SFTP with Public and Private Keys, that is a little more secure than just using a regular password under SFTP. A pass phrase is used.

File Zilla, I cannot find anywhere to utilize this.

But on the other hand, it is nice to have virutal directory listing show up on VM Ware when running my Secure FTP Program on it under Windows 20003 Server.

If this is worked out, this would be the best thing.

Virtual computing is taking off in a lot of areas. I have a virtual network of Windows 2003/2000 Active Directory with VM Ware and Virtual PC 2004.

Take care,

Jeremiah

Re: SFTP with Secure FTP 2.0 and VMWARE

OK!!

I GOT IT TO WORK!!

That is the good news.

The bad news is....

It Works under File Zilla version 2.2.7b

I can now see virtual directories when using Secure FTP 2.0 under VM Ware Workstation with Windows 2003 as the Guest Operating System.

WinSCP and WS_FTP Pro do not work for this, just only external to VM WARE Guest OS.

Is there a way to encorporate these fixes into your next release??

Please let me know.

Re: SFTP with Secure FTP 2.0 and VMWARE

Lastly,

I do not think there is a need for you to log in temporarily.

SFTP is an issue with VMWARE Workstation. Regular FTP works fine.

I am going to try Cygwin under VMWARE with Windows 2003 Server to see how that may work.

Thank you.

I will let you know when I find the answer.

Re: SFTP with Secure FTP 2.0 and VMWARE

Ok,

I tried this again with WS_FTP Pro 9.

It seems to be pointing back to VM WARE.

VMWARE has a problem running SFTP particularly the Global Scape Secure FTP 2.0 program with SSH2.

VMWARE if I use either WinSCP or WS_FTP Pro 9, will not let me get into my virtual directories. It basically sees them only as a physical directory, NOT virtual.

VMWWARE does not have a problem running it in regular normal FTP mode, where I can see my virtual directories listed when using either WS_FTP Pro or Cute FTP Pro. WinSCP does not apply here in this case.

It seems to be pointing at VMWARE and SFTP protocol with SSH2. I have tried regular SSH, and no luck. SSH2 is only supported by Global Scape Secure FTP 2.0.

Back to VM Ware I am. I will find an answer.

Determination as well as asking the right people.

Unfortunately the log does not help. Can I have a limited test account on your server?

The utilities directory should be saying
/Utilities TEST as the virtual directory name.

IT works fine under regular non-VMware sessions.

Re: SFTP with Secure FTP 2.0 and VMWARE

Ok, I have been away on emergency leave. I have just checked my email that you had sent to me.

I am able to log in fine with Bullet Proof FTP Client just fine when in normal FTP mode in VMware workstation with Windows 2003 Server as the Guest OS. (Guest = OS Inside VMware window)

I can log in with CuteFTP Pro just fine with my provided keys and see the virtual directories under SFTP.

I love WinSCP and it is much more efficient and smaller. I will provide you that log here in a few minutes.

SFTP with Secure FTP 2.0 and VMware

Hi,

I have successfully had WinSCP configured to work with Global Scape Secure FTP 2.0 with SFTP SSH 2.

When I bring up my VM Ware window running Windows 2003 Server and a second installed copy of Secure FTP 2.0 with SFTP SSH2, it works fine.

My window is set up for network bridging meaning that is shares with same HOST PC Network card.

I can log into this virtual machine and onto the Secure FTP 2.0 with WinSCP fine.

BUT my main problem is it only allows me to see physically created directories, NOT virtual directories.

When I do create a virtual directory on Secure FTP 2.0 under VM Ware Window, when i log in remotely from WinSCP, it does not let me in and gives me this:

But i can upload and transfer just fine if i create the physical directories within Secure FTP 2.0
No such file or directory.
Error code: 2
Error message from server: File not found (en)
Request code: 11

ALL is fine when I log into my FTP Server that is on not on VMware Workstation but on the HOST OS which is a Windows XP Professional machine, and i can see the virtual directories just fine and i can get into them.

Mind you the virtual directories are created within the Secure FTP 2.0 program.

I have checked both VMware and Globalscape for solutions.

Anything that you can help with?
