Which service / server are you connecting to using WebDAV?

Dear WinSCP User Community!

There is another forum topic related to webdav with a lot of +1 replies :-)

If you wish WinSCP to support WebDAV, please tell us here, how would you use WinSCP with WebDAV.

As we are not using WebDAV ourselves, we would like to read your answer to understand it.

Disclaimer: it does not mean it will be implemented!

hm, question could also be "What would you use a %insertProtocolhere% protocol in WinSCP for? (ssh, ftp, webdav, sftp,...)
general answer: for file transfer
webdav: for unsecure file transfer
webdav+ssl: for secure file transfer

webdav is a protocol which exists and some devices or some servers use it. winscp is a great tool, it would be useful that it also speaks webdav.

i used it for connecting to my andriod phone...

What would you use a WebDAV protocol in WinSCP for?

Many providers of online storage use webdav and this is why I like to have it in winscp

Dear WalterVk,

thanks for your answer :-) Could you be concrete, which online storage service(s) you personally are using?

Thanks!

Dear WalterVk,

Thanks!

Amazon S3 for one. Sitepoint for another. Windows Azure, Rackspace Cloud, Google Docs. I host a fair number of Joomla sites and using webdav solves the permissons problem that Joomla has with Linux/Unix hosting. I'd be recommending WinSCP to my customers more if it had webdav support.

How to use webdav...

Webdav is just a http protokol, that supports uploading of files via
PUT
(and also a few other commands)

How to use.
Just connect to a server as you did with ftp, scp...
just with http or https (or even with proxy in front of)

That's it.

Which servers/services provides webdav.
A lot of internet providers for personal homepages use webdav as its mostly easy to use on MacOs.

Also I personally use it often, cos it also integrates in Windos (Really... if u know how to setup the server... so works perfect here.)

Maybe here is a lib you can use <invalid hyperlink removed by admin>

If you need more info... you can ask me. I thought I had an account here (either joschi or dh1jc) but currently I can't remember my password.

Box.com

I'd use your program to access files on Box.com, and maybe even Dropbox.

My answers are Yandex.Disk and SkyDrive. I don't want to install Yandex's client on my machine (because of beta quality) and SkyDrive client doensn't support XP. So WebDav support is ideal solution.

We've setup 5 public WebDAV targets for developer testing (Login: webdav/webdav).

<invalid hyperlink removed by admin> (no SSL/TLS required - Apache/mod_dav framework)

<invalid hyperlink removed by admin> (no SSLv3, supports TLSv1-1.2 - Apache/mod_dav framework)

<invalid hyperlink removed by admin> (no SSLv3, supports TLSv1.1 only - Apache/mod_dav framework)

<invalid hyperlink removed by admin> (no SSLv3, supports TLSv1.2 only - Apache/mod_dav framework)

<invalid hyperlink removed by admin> (no SSLv3, supports TLSv1-1.2 - Gallery 2 WebDAV module framework) ** doesn't respond to Expect: 100-continue header requests**

Thanks a lot for that! I appreciate it.

Please keep these running. We are now busy with 5.2.x final release, so it might take few week before we are able to make tests.
