I want t o set up an ad-hoc connection, to quickly/easily transfer files, however, from the documentation, I can't figure out how to do this!

All it says is "click login to start an ad-hoc connection"! Do I login with the other pcs host name, or what? Because, I can't just click connect-I have to enter a host name! Also, do I need a specific protocol? Neutral

Sure, if you want to connect, an absolute minimum you need to specify is the protocol and the host name.

It looks like you are trying to use WinSCP for a purpose it is not designed for. What do you want to do actually?
