I am doing a job for a customer at the moment that requires SFTP from a windows to a linux box. I need to know if I use generated keys that are generated in putty if the key fails to connect for some reason, it asks for a password instead for the user. Can I just get it to drop out with an error if the keys dont authenticate.

You can disable password authentication on the server.

Thanks for any help

On the server. WinSCP does not have the option.
