Cannot satrt Winscp 3.6.8, Windoze 95 says: Error reading ...

Hi,
Cannot satrt Winscp 3.6.8, Windoze 95 pop-ups msg win: Error reading ExplorerImages->Bitmap: Failed to read ImageList data from stream.
Should I try older vesion (2.x)? 2.0.0 (build 89) works, but slowly, 30kByte/s on 10Mbit ethernet (non-loaded).
Where to download olders?
thx in advance,
Cupy

You may download all WinSCP version from Sourceforge server.
I would appreciate if you can try to find which version of WinSCP introduced the problem.

All 2.X on souceforge positive, since 2.0 Beta, both .exe and setup.exe packages, so I did not try all the 3.X.
(note: the mentioned message appears even during uninstall, but it proceeds OK.)
2.0.0 (build 89) now says "List index out of bounds (6)"
The only working is very old 1.0 (build 215), which I found somewhere in a dark corner of my HDD.
Isn't there some registry-stored setup mismatch?
Or, may be, WinSCP depends on some everyone-has-installed dll,
which is missing. I experienced this prob. on Win95 (A) and on just installed Win95B, on two old 486 laptops.
It must be some GUI affair, FAR+WinSCP plugin works.
Anyway, I did what I needed with an good old 1.0, God bless the garbage collecting ;-)

The tip with DLL is very probable. The error is result of calling some Windows function in comctrl.dll (or similar). It changes with every version of Windows. Maybe you have strange build of Windows 95.

Anyone else having the problem?

same error

I got this same error on a Dell Server, running
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2
Standard Edition
Service Pack 2

It was odd, I used winscp3 and moved over a few files, then it gave me an error saying the program must be terminated, now when I try to open it up again I get the error
"Error reading ExplorerImages->Bitmap: Failed to read ImageList data from stream"

I loged off and back on and it works again.
