Topic "Number of line changes after copying data file"

Author Message

I copied a data file with 162500 lines from local Windows PC to a Linux supercomputer using Winscp but found the line number became 162505!!! Shocked I copied it back from Linux to windows, and found the line number became 162500 again!! Laughing This is really strange, but because of this problem, my program which reads the data file would not run on the supercomputer. Crying or Very sad It will be great if you could give me some advice on why this happens and how it can be possibly fixed. Many thanks! Very Happy

MY guess is that ascii/text transfer mode is involved. Try to switch to binary mode.
