Linux, UTF8, NTFS, WinSCP

Hello. I've transfered a bunch of files from my Laptop which runs Windows and has an NTFS file system to a Reiserfs partition my desktop which is a dual boot machine (huge amount of data).

Anyway, many of these files have special characters. As I understand things NTFS uses UTF8. Does that mean that the files on my Reiserfs partition are in UTF8? I did read smewhere on this board that OpenSSH doesn't support utf8.

Also, not that it really applies to WinSCP, but if anyone happens to know which locale supports UTF8, that would be nice information also.
