Is there any public sftp server I can try?
When uploading to that test server goes uneventfull I know the problem is on the other location where FreeNAS is running.

That says pretty clearly that the problem is not WinSCP. Are you connecting through a Linksys or some another similar grade of device? It's possible your network device just isn't capable of handling the amount of upload traffic you're throwing at it. Older Linksys models had a problem with overheating and reloading when attempting to sustain medium-high traffic loads.

If that's not it, enable some logging on the server and see what it says is happening during these periods of disconnectivity. For that matter, do the system/application event logs on your computer report anything useful?

I have never problems when downloading with browser.

What else can I try to find out what the problem is?

I do not know what to suggest, I've never seen the problem before. Does it happen with WinSCP only or also, for example, when you download files with browser? What about downloads with WinSCP?
papalima

Same problem with 382.

More info:
When uploading OK:
cpu 5%
ram 1%
upload 118
download 106

When connection goes idle:
cpu 5%
ram 1%
upload 0
download 0

Please advise; during idle I'm not able to use my internetconnection; dns fails, www/email not possible.

Re: Internet connection to idle every 10 seconds

Can you try that with version 3.8.2?

Internet connection to idle every 10 seconds

When sending files this happens:

- 10 seconds internet connection to idle (so no transfer / email /download / www is possible!!)
