Can I use the installation package if I only have user rights or do I need Admin rights to install?

Depends on location you will want WinSCP to install to.

No difference in features, I suppose

Well, there are many other stand alone programs. It is not special with WinSCP.
The purpose of having these programs is portability. For instance, you can for example have the standalone version on USB-stick which can be fired-up on any computer without installation. You can for example use WINSCP on a computer even if you don't have permission to install any software on it--just fire it up from your USB stick.

Yes per prikryl.

>If so, why even have both versions?
Some people like the install program, which do extra things like, put an entry into "add/remove pgm" in Windows control panel, put uninstall pgm, script to clean registry on uninstall, make desktop, program manager short cuts etc. And some programmers think that cool.

Personally I hate all that stuff, I can do that my self. Thanks to Martin, he is also giving us stand alone exe.

For documentation, if you have time please feel fee create an ID and update

I am sure Martin will very much welcome any kind help in documentation.

Standalone application vs. Installation package

It seems there is no explaination of what the standalone is exactly... Does the standalone perfom all of the functions and capabilities as the version that is loaded from the install package? If so, why even have both versions? If not please document the difference somewhere and differentiate the functions on the download page!

Yes.

Can the standalone version be used safely with WinSCP3.com for scripting?

Yes.

Standalone application vs. Installation package

Standalone application vs. Installation package - what is the difference beside the installation script?

Because I see that the exe from the installation pack is 3,84 MB in size, while the standalone version is only 1,12 MB. Is it compressed with some exe compressor being exactly the same? Can the standalone version be used safely with WinSCP3.com for scripting?
