Solution

For list of reasons WinSCP cannot parse directory listing and possible resolutions, see documentation.

yes. We still use protocol version 1 (oops!) for what reason ever!

SFTP is subsystem of sshd. Have you tried?
Frank K.

nope, the server doesn't run that protocol, just sshd.

Re: long directory name doesn't work

Have you tried SFTP protocol?

long directory name doesn't work

Hello,
sometimes winscp pops up the following message:

Unexpected directory listing line "drwxr-xr-x 6 abcdefg-testnogroup 4096 Nov 11 2002 abcdefg-test".
Operation aborted

It seems, that the directory name is too long (on a solaris 8 host) and the winscp cannot handle the missing space between directory name and group identifier. Is there any chance to handle this (e.g. by using a second different directory list format if this error is encountered)?
Regards
Frank
