WinSCP can differentiate between test and binary files by extension. See documentation. Or you can follow link hinted by TS for per-directory settings.

Automatically recognised disticntion between binary and text

Hi everyone,

I'm using this program to transfer data from one server to another. Some data I transer is binary, some is text.

Now I know it is possible to create profiles for transfer settings. But I wondered if it is possible to some basic rules about when to treat data as binary and when as text which WINSCP picks up automatically. This would reduce the error margin of forgetting to select the binary of text profile.

I hope one of you guys could help me out!

Best regards, Mark
