Re: `Open session in Putty` opens the Putty configuration window

Can you provide me your email address, so I can send you a debug version of WinSCP to track the problem? If you do not want to post the address here, you can send me an email. You will find it (if you log in) in my forum profile. Please include link to this topic. Thanks.

"PuttyRegistryStorageKey"="Software%5CSimonTatham%5CPuTTY"

The post was probably truncated. The key is not there. What is its value?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Martin Prikryl\WinSCP 2\Configura

Here it is.

Seems it is there. So what to do?

Re: Putty session reg

That's strange. There's no "WinSCP temporary session" session created.
1) So either it was created elsewhere.
Check key in PuttyRegistryStorageKey
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Martin Prikryl\WinSCP 2\Configuration\Interface]

2) Or you do not have write access to the key (what I doubt).

PuTTY session reg

Attached.

Re: details

Please export the following registry key (in Win9x/NT format) and post it here or send it to me by an email:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY\Sessions
xaos

details

  • WinSCP v4.1.7 build 413, PuTTY 0.60,
  • PuTTY and WinSCP installed separately from installers
  • SFTP, SCP fallback
  • where is the log?
  • no session
  • no sessions at all
  • yes
  • installed from PuTTY installer, what do you mean by stand-alone app?
  • Windows XP SP2

What happens is that when I press `Open PuTTY session` button the PuTTY configuration window appears. Then I have to put in the server name again and press Open button. On user prompt I put username, then the password is submitted automatically.

Ps. Thanx for the interest. Hope for help.

Re: `Open session in Putty` opens the Putty configuration window

Also what is your WinSCP session name? Do you have session with the same name in PuTTY?
TS

It works just fine for many other people, so you will have to provide more details. I can't reproduce the problem based on what you've given so far (and I suspect Martin won't be able to, either).

  • What version of WinSCP are you using?
  • The installed package, or the stand-alone application?
  • What protocol are you using?
  • What does the WinSCP log say when you try to open the session in PuTTY?
  • Are you using a saved session?
  • Does that saved session also exist in PuTTY?
  • Can PuTTY connect normally (when not started via WinSCP)?
  • Do you have PuTTY installed via the normal package, or just as a stand-alone application, or what?
  • What version of Windows are you using?

`Open session in Putty` opens the Putty configuration window

But don't start a session.
