Yes. It is my own PC and I have administrator authority.

I have tried changing the path for the log file including just write a file to root of local drives c:\ or d:\ (c:\log.txt or d:\log.txt) and still no log file. If I enable the window it always comes up "logging is disabled".

Is there some type of windows service or other thing WinSCP expects to have, that maybe my PC does not have?

The reason I mention that, I saw this recently with another program. The program had some very odd and intermittent errors, seemed like no one else was having this problem. It was a long time before we found out the program required terminal services to be running. Because author used some SDK for feature he was not aware of requirement to check for it.

Could such a thing be possible here too? WinSCP is not finding something it wants? Or maybe finding something it shouldn't?

Thanks and regards,

WinSCP 4.1.8 logging to file disabled

Good Morning,

I am using version 4.1.8. I would like get a log file written to disk, but am not having any luck. I searched here first, and in the documentation, but didn't find anything to help me. If I missed, please point me to posts or documentation, thank you.

I defined a session and saved it, everything is defined including my logfile parameters, everything except for my password.

If I go back under stored sessions and edit it, I can see that logging is enabled (box is checked), debug level is "debug 2", log to file is enabled (box is checked), and I have a valid path and filename in the filename box. So I click the "login" button, provide my password, and login. Click on a few things, then F10 to quit.

There is no logfile?

So I go back into edit mode and enable "show log window" along with "display complete session". I click the "login" button. Before I even provide my password, I have a log window, and at the bottom are the words "logging to file disabled."

I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Can someone help me to get a log file?

Thanks and regards,
