Cannot get WinSCP to work from Vista host to XP VBox guest

Hi,
I'm having a problem trying to use WinSCP to connect to a VM of WinXP SP2 x86 i just recently installed last week. When I try and log in, i get "Network error: conection refused" in a dialog box, and gives me the option to reconnect or cancel. On the session page i'm using the IP address, port 22, and my username and password, and i've tried all three of SFTP, SCP and FTP options from the drop down box. I previously had an XP VM i used to use but which is deleted now, and i could get into it easily from the host machine. I'm using a local regular user account on the XP guest to log in and it has a password.
I have a Red Hat VM which i am easily able to log into with no issues. The VM can ping every other interface and they can ping it, so it has to be a problem further up the OSI stack. I have my firewall set to allow TCP port 22 for SSH. What else could be the issue? Thanks in advance for reading, any help is greatly appreciated!!!!
