Re: Error code: 4

It actually looks like it is read-only. You should better contact your server administrator for help.

Error code: 4

Hi,

I am coming across a problem with WinSCP where it seems my entire user account is read only. When I drag a file from my local computer to the remote one I get the error:
General failure (server should provide error description).
Error code: 4
Error message from server: Failure
Request code: 3

I get this same error when I try to append a text file. I get a Request code: 9 instead of 3 if I try to change the permissions on a file.

If I try to duplicate any file, even a file that has all of the permission rights checked, I get the error:
Command 'cp -p -r -f "File.bch" "/home/folder/File.bch"'
failed with return code 1 and error message
cp: cannot create regular file `/home/folder/folder1/File.bch': Read-only file system.

Other info:
I'm running the latest version of WinSCP
I'm on Windows 7
I use a SFTP-3 transfer protocol
