Using WinSCP to upload to an ec2 server

Hey all -

I am trying to upload my site using WinSCP to an Apache server I created on the Amazon EC2 VMI. The problem is, Amazon forces login with ec2-user rather than root, so I cannot gain read/write access in my public_html file. Is there a way to gain root access in WinSCP or change permissions for ec2?

Thanks!
