You likely need to execute the clean-up utility as with administrator privileges. Please try right clicking on the clean-up utility and then 'Run as Administrator'. If this continues to be a problem please contact support at opencandy dot com.

I have the same problem as steelrain.

Hi Jhart,

We have a small clean-up tool to fix this issue. This tool does not install anything on the computer, is incapable of making an internet connection, and is intended to remove all traces of OpenCandy.

RE; OpenCandy Error Message

Hi Jim,
Thank you for your information. I have now run the CleanUp tool as Run Adminstrator, successfully.
Unfortunately, it has not removed the problem and for some reason, I now have the same error message as previous but with an addition error message in the same information window, which reads the same as the first error message but an additional line has been added at the end and says that, Open Candy, etc etc....dll "is not a valid Win32 application".
Any thoughts???

Sorry to hear that SteelRain!

I believe this can be resolved simply by right clicking on the application and selecting "Run as Administrator."

Please let us know if that worked!

OpenCandy Error Message

Thanks for your reply to the above but when I try to run the OCcleanup tool, the progress bar gets right to the end and then I get an Error Message, "There was a problem running OpenCandy Cleanup tool, please close any applications that may be using OpenCandy files", and then stops, I have no idea what that could be. I have tried rebooting the PC without opening any progs other that what was in the Startup Menu, but it still crashes. Other than stopping all progs in the Startup, do you have any other suggestions.
Thanks for you help.

The error which you describe is related to a part of the OpenCandy recommendation system not being found when your computer starts up. This error may occur with either OpenCandyU1Dlm.dll or OpenCandyDlm.dll.

The OpenCandy recommendation system may have been part of a WinSCP software installer that you recently ran or possibly another software installer. It is used by developers like WinSCP to offset development costs by recommending additional software products during their installation process, and only in the case where you accepted an offer would our Download Manager have been invoked temporarily. Our application and related components are designed to be automatically removed from your computer, but in this rare error condition the OpenCandy Download Manager DLL continues being requested but is no longer available.

We take these user experience and functionality issues very seriously and have taken measures to prevent this issue from happening again. No harm has been done to your computer, this issue does not affect system resources, and the error message you see is simply a nuisance. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We have a small clean-up tool to fix this issue. This tool does not install anything on the computer, is incapable of making an internet connection, and is intended to remove all traces of OpenCandy.

OpenCandy Error Message

I am sorry if this has already been asked, I have searched but have found nothing, so can someone please help me with the following;
My issue is "OpenCandy – The specified module could not be found" appears after each re-boot. The issue seems to be well Googled but as yet I have not found a way to remove the problem.
I think that it has been left behind from a previous uninstall???

I have since installed/uninstalled Winscp, searched for anything OpenCandy on my pc and found nothing.
I have recently re-installed WinSCP but despite lots of documentation on the WinSCP site saying that I will be asked if I want to install OpenCandy, I don't seem to have found that Installation package.
The full error message that I am getting is;
There was a problem starting
C:Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\OpenCandy\OpenCandy_73F 3F091D5314F23886D4725657335D\OpenCandyU1Dlm.dll
The specified module cannot be found
I don't even know where the program has come from, I certainly am not able to use it.

Can anyone please help.
Many thanks
