What do you mean by a transfer that is in the background, but it's in the queue?

Cancel Background transfer

I have a very small file that I transferred through a SFTP. It didn't do what I wanted it to but it just keeps trying. My question is how do you cancel a SFTP that is running in the background and isn't in Que?
