No matter what I do, I keep getting the message, "Too many authentication failures for jansmith"
So how can I ever log in??

I could not fine an 'INI" file anywhere, and I have no idea how to supply the reports you requested.

Re: WinSCP on new computer

To transfer the configuration to your new computer, see:
https://winscp.net/eng/docs/config#transfer

If that does not help, please attach a full log file showing the problem from both computers (using the latest version of WinSCP).

To generate log file, enable logging, log in to your server and do the operation and only the operation that causes the error. Submit the log with your post as an attachment. Note that passwords and passphrases not stored in the log. You may want to remove other data you consider sensitive though, such as host names, IP addresses, account names or file names (unless they are relevant to the problem). If you do not want to post the log publicly, you can mark the attachment as private.

WinSCP on new computer

I have been using WinSCP for years on a computer running Windows XP, and everything was workig perfectly.

I recently bought a new computer running Windows 7

I downloaded the proper WinSCP installer, and installed WinSCP on the new computer.

With both computers running, I tried to configure the new WinSCP client according to what I had on the XP computer.

Nothing works. I have been struggling with this for many days.

My web site is Wordblessings.com

I am now unable to edit files that need attention.

I request that someone help me to get WinSCP configured on my new computer.

Thanks in advance,
James R.Smith
