hello Martin

thanks for the reply!

Sorry, I've not explained it sufficiently:
when public key authentication fails, WinSCP always falls back to password authentication. So I suppose that there must be problem with your key. Turn on logging and see the log to track the problem. If you do not find the solution, post the log here.

thanks alot - now we ve figured it out!

Re: "session password"

hello Martin,

again me (martin II ;)

So how do you log in? Are you using public key? Have you specified it on login dialog? Please note that WinSCP has special public key format. You need to use puttygen tool to generate/convert key.

well Martin i use the private key! but i do not know where to find the session passwd.
This request is brandnew to me! What can i do? With all the ohter hosts on the same server, i do not have this request (for seesion - passwd).

The basic question is: Where can i find the passwd?

by the way: Sometimes a dialoge pops up with the following message:

the Servers host key is not cached in the registry! you have no garantee that the server is the computer
you think iti s! The servers key fingerprint is 1024 9d; and so on! If you trost this host to connect without adding host key to the cache press NO To abandon the connection preess CANCEL; continue connecting and add host key to the cache!

either what i press --.. i am allways led to the (sorry: dammed) session passwd-request!

Any idea? thanks in advance!

Re: "session password"

hello martin,

thanks for the quick reply:

.i also receive the same error: but i do not have a session passwd.
well i use the same client for a long time now! But
as i try to connect to a new created host (a new vhost on the same server - with the old keys )
i allway get a request for the session passwd.

This repest does not appear with the old hosts which i connect to for more than half a year now!
hmmm - It seems to be some issues - related to the the initial connection to the server, Can this be?

So how do you log in? Are you using public key? Have you specified it on login dialog? Please note that WinSCP has special public key format.

i will try it again and will come back here later!
thanks for the quick reply!
