Re: The WinSCP Download Page

Thanks for your post.
We try very hard to filter all deceptive advertisement.
I've checked for the "1Click PDF" ad, but didn't find any. Maybe it was withdrawn meanwhile.

I also believe that ads are clearly marked as such. And the real "download" button is quite prominent. We have actually improved that a lot in a recent redesign on the site.

The WinSCP Download Page

This is not a bug, just a suggestion for the WinSCP download page. You regularly release wonderful updates and send me to this page.

I can understand that you are interested in having advertisements on this page, perhaps you need some income from that. But why is the page designed so that when someone comes to it to download WinSCP, the advertisements are so prominent that they easily deceive visitors into thinking they should click and download something different than what they came for?

As an experienced user, I have learned to look carefully before clicking.

But why would you, as the makers of WinSCP, want to encourage this deceptive advertising practice? The page layout is under your control, surely. And hopefully you will see what I mean about it being laid out to encourage users to click on something irrelevant to the service you provide. (Today's example was an ad for "1Click PDF")

Thank you for your consideration of this suggestion.
