Perfectly right, Martin, it works. May be this mask "*" can be the default value for the external editor choice.

Thanks again,

Re: Unrequired editors selection (Internal/external)

It seems rather like a bug. So please, do not put it into documentation :-)

Also mask "*" should be enough.

In fact it was formely "*.*" but with the trouble I pointed out, so I try the empty selection which still don't work.

Nevertheless you are right Martin but it is (a very little) more complex . Your answer encourage me to test "*.*; *" with the right behavior :)

To share experience may I try to put this in doc ?

Thanks for your help,

Unrequired editors selection (Internal/external)

Hi Martin,

I use your full featured last version of WinSCP 3.7.6 (build 306) with the SFTP protocol.

One of these features is a simple internal editor.

It seems that this editor is activated automatically even when not required.

I have try configuration to disable (perhaps temporarily) this, as I need to use UltraEdit, an external editor:
<invalid hyperlink removed by admin> (<invalid hyperlink removed by admin>)

<invalid hyperlink removed by admin> (<invalid hyperlink removed by admin>)

I observe the following behaviour, depending perhaps from the file extension, whatever the configuration is:
sendmail-timeout.cf => external editor (as selected)
virtusertable => internal editor (unrequired)

What is my mistake  or what I can do  to by-pass this ?

Thanks Martin for your very nice software, and you support for many years,
Alain
