By just using the public and private key pair.

eg. not having to enter a username

IMHO it is nonsense. The private key is associated with an username. It maybe technically possible that the server requires only private key, but I haven't seen such yet. Have you?

Requesting User Name with Public Key AUthorisation

I am using SCP but I have to enter a user name as well as using the public key.

Is there a way of using this without having to enter a user name?

I have tried to search the forum and documents but could not find anything
