Can I edit 2 files at once?

Hey guys.
I am trying to edit 2 files at once form a certain directory on the server but until I close the aplication I am editing one the file it do nto let me make any action ...
IS there a setting or is for security reasons?

Danke, I was using 3.42 version and there this was not working ... Only 1 file opened at one time ... I updradede to 3,7 version and is working!
