Maintaining a Constant Connection

With WinSCP, is it possible to maintain a constant connection? After I connect, the remote computer reports that I am constantly logging in and out, even though I am not telling WinSCP to log out. The remote computer firewall does not allow frequent logins and logouts, since it seeks to protect against password cracking attempts.

Is there a way to have WinSCP stay logged in until I tell it to log out?

WinSCP never login/logout deliberately, unless the connection is dropped during transfer. If you still think there is a problem, please provide more info.

Maintaining a Constant Connection

I investigated this further with our network administrator and discovered that the problem is in our firewall setup. WinSCP is doing exactly what it should. It stays logged in until the user intentionally logs off.

The problem was in the way our system firewall was programmed. Due to an error in the way it kept track of login attempts, the firewall logs made it appear that WinSCP was repeatedly logging in and out, but it actually was not. The problem is in our firewall, not WinSCP. Sorry for the confusion.

By the way, if I had to use a VPN to access our system, the data transfer would be very slow. I use WinSCP because it provides a fast data transfer rate and a convenient interface. Keep up the good work.

Howto set up a constant connection with WinSCP?

I have the same problem with seemly deliberated disconnection from
the remote host using WinSCP.
Again, the reason is the network firewall controls.
At the same time, using PUTTY cancel out such a problem .
With PUTTY I have a stable constant connection, firewall does not interrupt it.

My question is
Can WinSCP maintain a constant connection in the same way as PUTTY does it,
independently of firewall?
What options/commands in configuration should be applied/executed?

PuTTY does not anything like that AFAIK. BTW, Do you have keepalive option enabled for WinSCP? If you do, can you try to turn it off?

options to keep a constant connection

Hi Martin!

You are right, "Keepalive" option shoud be ticked
before login to remote host.

Thanks for assisstance.

And I wish to thank you for the great scp client which is NOT OVERLOADED by fancy possibilities and options, but provides really useful comfort to work between local and remote hosts.

All the best.
