Access denied

Please help. I have not used Winscp for a while, and now access is denied when I login. In the past I used v406. When the trouble started , I followed the troubleshooting instructions and installed the newest version 4.2.1 beta but the problem persists. Perhaps my password has expired? What do I do now? I use windows XP and recently downloaded all the latest updates.
