Error: command su failed

Hi, I tried the search, but it seems down at the moment...,

any advice on this error message? I want to log in as root so as to work with some of the config files.

Yes, I do have root access, this is a virtual dedicated server at godaddy. It also doesn't work on my dedicated server.

Command 'su' failed with return code 1 and error message standard in must be a tty.

Solved

OK, answered my own question. Had to set up properties, open putty, su in , and CLOSE THE PUTTY WINDOW!

The last part wasn't obvious.

Thanks anyway Maybe my dumb posts will help someother noob.
