'0' copy while target space is full with out intimating

Hi all,
I tried to copy a jar file to an aws node. Unfortunately i am not aware that, there is no space. WinSCP is silently copying '0' bytes with out alerting the user.
Is there some settings i need to verify in tool to enable this? or is this the tool behaviour itself ?. If it is tool behaviour, it will be nice if tool can alert the user in this scenario.

WinSCP would report the error, if the server did.
