Can't Access Root Directory

I just installed WinSCP on the recommendation of a colleague. I was able to log into my NAS storage device running BusyBox Linux.

I was able to see the entire directory structure from the root up.

I logged off and later re-logged into the system with the same credentials and all I can see now is my share file, the public and web directory. I see /root but can't get to any of the other directories /var /etc etc.

If I log in using bitvise same credentials and via the command line and do a cd / I get to the root level and can access everything from there.

Any help is appreciated as it would be great to be able to navigate without having to use command line and the vi editor!

Re: Can't Access Root Directory

If I choose the command option it opens another window and logs in with the same credentials. I can then do an ls / and see all the directories I can't access via the GUI. See screenshot attached

Re: Can't Access Root Directory

Please attach a full log file showing the problem (using the latest version of WinSCP) on Debug Level 1.

To generate log file, enable logging, log in to your server and do the operation and only the operation that causes the error. Submit the log with your post as an attachment. Note that passwords and passphrases not stored in the log. You may want to remove other data you consider sensitive though, such as host names, IP addresses, account names or file names (unless they are relevant to the problem). If you do not want to post the log publicly, you may email it to me. You will find my address (if you log in) in my forum profile. Please include link back to this topic in your email. Also note in this topic that you have emailed the log.

Re: Can't Access Root Directory

I changed the protocol on the login screen from SFTP to SCP and it seems to be working fine. I am logging into a Synology Diskstation and I have enabled SFTP. The diskstation is running BusyBox linux. Attached are two log files one from an SCP session that lets me get to root files and one from an SFTP session that does not. I am able to log in using the SFTP protocol and the Admin account (log files not attached) This lets me get to the share files but not the root level. If I log in as Admin an use SCP I can also see the root files.

Re: Can't Access Root Directory

Can you send me an email, so I can send you back a debug version of WinSCP to track the problem? Please include link back to this topic in your email. Also note in this topic that you have sent the email. Thanks.
