Slow change to Desktop directory

I've had the following behaviour in both WinSCP 3.7.6 and the new 3.8.0

I login to a saved connection successfully. I use the Norton style so I get a local directory on the left and my remote directory on the right. I then use the drop down on the left to select Desktop. It can take several minutes to pull up that information. It's not due to a huge file list since the Desktop only has about 20 files on it.

This is using Windows XP SP2. Is there some setting I am using that I should turn off?

Do you mean that it takes so long to open the drop down menu?

Re: Slow change to Desktop directory

No, the menu appears fine. I can see several options (e.g. C:, D:, mapped drive) then when I select "Desktop" from the menu is when I get a very long delay.

I get a similar delay if the "last directory used" is Desktop. The app starts, I enter my login information and then I get a delay of several minutes before the screen comes up with the two panels.

Once it's up, I can switch directories and switch back to Desktop quickly.

Is there something about how it generates the dynamic path that could be the problem? Desktop and My Documents are user specific.

I store settings in an .ini file not the registry if that matters.

PS. THanks for the extremely useful code

Re: Slow change to Desktop directory

Please send me an email, so I can send you back a debug version of WinSCP. Thanks.
