I actually didn't do much, or anything - the window was just sitting there, under other windows, waiting and idling.

The problem happens rarely. I cannot reproduce it.

My internet connectivity drops in and out a fair bit; usually winSCP recovers and recognises that any files in my external editor (Notepad++) are part of the reconnected session. The file that caused this error (I was able to edit and save other files) has been in memory for a full working day during which time the session has had to reconnect several times
