Auto-conversion when transfering shell (script) files from Linux/Solaris<--->Windows?

I am planning to use WinSCP to transfer shell script files from/to

Unix/Solaris/Linux<----->Windows

Does WinSCP perform automatically (!) some file format conversions during such a transfer?

E.g. ANSI<--->UTF-8 or UTF-8 BOM or UCS-2 ?

From what I know Solaris and Linux only accept UTF-8 format as valid shell scripting file format.

In former times I have had difficulties when I transferred such file via ssh command.

How can I check (in WinSCP) what kind of file format a remote file currently has?

WinSCP can convert the EOL sequence. But it does not perform any encoding conversion.
