WinSCP with group based permissions?

Here is the issue I seem to be having. I am trying to setup group permissions so that two users can share a directory and both modify it's contents. As such, I have set the GID bit for the directories, created the group, owned the directory to the group and the whole smash.

This works like a champ in ssh. However, with WinSCP, I'm getting mixed results. In particular, I can't figure out how to setup the umask correctly. I have tried using .ssh/enviornment with PermitUserEnviornment set to on in my sshd_config. However, WinSCP does not seem to be using this. Similarly, if I have WinSCP set the permissions on the file (in the Transfer section of the Preferences menu), if the file already exists and is owned by someone else (although owned by the same group), it will not let me modify the permissions.

The result is that I have to keep checking and unchecking the use permissions checkbox in the Transfer section, which is quite cumbersome. Is there a way to do this seamlessly? Such as if a file already exists on the server, I can have WinSCP NOT change the permissions, but if it is a new file, it will go ahead and assign the correct permissions?

Any help on this would be great! I am sort of at an empass at this point.

Werd,

Tim

the next version will optionally allow you to ignore any errors when changing attributes of uploaded files. It is not the same you ask for, but it also solves the problem somehow.
