Portuguese from Brasil and Portuguese from Portugal

I see in code PT for Brasilian and PTG for Portugal, this is wrong and the correct codes are:

Br - Brasil

Pt- Portugal

I hope that will be correct in future.

Can you explain me what are you trying to achieve here?

The ISO 3166 codes for Portugal are PT/PRT/620; BR/BRA/076 for Brazil

The ISO 639 code for Portuguese language (general) is POR/PT.

The language codes are often described as PT-PT (Portuguese from Portugal) and PT-BR (Portuguese from Brazil).

I have never seen PTG as an official standard code.

PT-PT and PT-BR are basicly the same but with innumerous different words, therefore they deserve a separation.

These are the Microsoft Codes, although NOT official country/language codes:

Portuguese - Portuguese (Brazil) (0416; PTB)
Portuguese - Portuguese (Portugal) (0816; PTG)

Olá,

Das 2 partes já enviei uma parte.
A tradução não é o maior problema.
Depois da tradução feita, terá que se fazer uma revisão total por dois motivos:

- Alguns termos técnicos ou foram alterados ou estão a ser traduzido de forma diferente.
- Revisão para o novo acordo ortográfico (o que só posso lamentar....mas é o que está em vigor)

e de seguida uma verificação de erros.

Obrigado pela oferta, por agora está controlado.

Cumps.

PTG ou PTB - mnemônico

PTG - Português de PorTuGal
PTB - PorTuguês do Brasil
PTA - Português de Angola (não se se existe esta sigla)
PTM - Português de Moçambique (não se se existe esta sigla)

Com 4 letras
PT PT - Português de Portugal, Português Europeu ou Português Lusitano
PT BR - Português do Brasil ou Português Brasileiro

Em Legendas
PTBR
PTPT

A principal diferença entre o PTB e o PTG é que o PTB fortalece as vogais, enquanto o PTG, fortalece as consoantes.

Exemplo:
Palavra PNEU
PTG - pronuncia-se pneu
PTB - pronuncia-se pê neu

Hi, it's true, need revision.

There are parts of the translation in the old orthographic agreement.
It's needed:
- Review by the current spelling agreement.
- Standardization of some technical terms.
- Some Portuguese characters are not being visualized.

Yes, I can help to review all that.
I'm not too happy with this new agreement.
Portuguese technical words at least most of them come from English.
All strings need to be UTF-8 to allow accents and other characteres to be correctly displayed but WinSCP will need to be tested on 2000/XP/2003 to check if UTF-8 does not get screwed.
Strings also needs formalization to separate Portuguese from Portugual from Portuguese from Brasil, there will be sentences and words that will need to be corrected.

@inominável: Thanks for your offer. Though we do have (three) Portuguese translators already and the translation is complete. If you believe the translations needs improvements, can you post your suggestions here for the current translators?
