Help logging into an SFTP Server

Hi I'm new at this!
I'm trying to use this for the first time.. I need to log onto my SFTP server to set up automatic file transfers for my clients.

I typed in the host and the username and password but it keeps timing out.. anyone know what I have to do to log on?
