With advent of Windows Vista, applications need icons larger then 32x32 pixels. Once we will be making changes to graphics, why not changing completely WinSCP artwork?
So we are announcing a competition for new WinSCP artwork. Conditions of the competition:
Artists are encouraged to submit their logo to this forum in a new topic. Winner will be chosen by WinSCP development team, taking user's opinions expressed in the forum into account. Winner of the competition will be publicly announced in project news and credited on the winscp.net. Competition stays open at least till end of November 2008. 19 Dec 2008: Finalists have been selected. Cast your vote! Last edited by prikryl on 19 Dec 2008 21:14; edited 7 times in total |

I have a question
When you say logo you mean Logotype + Logosymbol (+ slogan) + Icon? Or just a Logosymbol + Icon? Or just an Icon? |

Basically I mean an application icon. But designed in a way to allow its reuse for other purposes than a desktop icon. E.g. as mentioned in the original post, to replace the "suitcase" image above.

In spite of the fact that I can't help (I'm not good with graphics), I'd like to know if the internal icons (e.g., toolbar icons) will also be revamped...

i know there are edges, ill clean them up Thanks. What about allowing the arrow to overflow the background a bit? Otherwise I like the second one. Can you make small versions of it? _________________ Martin Prikryl |

Thanks. That's nice. Well, maybe another tweak... If the two blue layers are two "folders", maybe larger gap in between would make it clearer. Like in "Folders" toolbar button in Windows Explorer. _________________ Martin Prikryl |

Quick design idea I suck at graphics on a good day, but something that struck me as possibly being cool to add to your basic design when I was looking at it, might be to add "forcefield" effect/line around the arrows witht he padlock shackel attached to the forcefield as a way of indicating the communications would be secure when using SFTP, SCP, or the SSH pieces of the software. And for what it's worth, I like the blue version better than the red version, because red indicates emergency where as blue has a calming effect, but that's only my opinion. |

As new major version of WinSCP won't be out within next few weeks, deadline for the submissions is postponed until end of November 2008. BTW, that does not mean I do not have any good submissions yet ...

So is this contest still on? I swear I read somewhere earlier that the winner was chosen, announced and credited. Hmmm.
BTW, how long until the forthcoming release? |

It wasn't closed officially yet, although deadline has passed already. Unfortunately I do not have enough time to evaluate the submissions. I hope to do it over the Christmas. Probably a bit late but I really liked the flat 2D look of mossblaster's orginal blue/green icon set. I thought it scaled really well. My hat's off to you Johnathan.
