Recover Sessions from old disk registry hive files

Is it possible to open old disk registry hive files and recover WinSCP sessions?
I know how to find the registry files but have no idea how I would procedd to find and extract sessions.
FYI, defaulting to ini files instead of registry session storage would be a good starting point for WinSCP.
