Topic "WinSCP vs F-Secure on Windows XP/2000"

Author Message

Firstly I am very new to all of this and so i hope this is a simple config problem or something I have missed! and secondly I'll apologise now for any idiot questions I ask! Crying or Very sad

I have an XP machine (will be a 2000 server) with F-Secure's SSH running on it and using the F-Secure client I can connect perfectly using password only (I'll try the whole key thing after I get this working!).

We would like to use WinSCP as the client but I just keep getting the following message when I attempt a connection:

"Error skipping startup message. Not connected!"

If I try and login with the logging enabled I get the following:

. --------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Quick note: I have changed the IP address of the host and the host name to protect the innocent!)

Hope someone can help...

Please make sure, that your shell is compatible with WinSCP. WinSCP requires UNIX-like shell. I have no experiences with F-Secure, but on OpenSSH for Windows, it is only necessary to specify /bin/bash on Shell tab of Login dialog.

See documentation for details about "Error skipping startup message" error.
