I opened winSCP after having left the program running in the background overnight

Several files open in internal editor instances.
Sometimes after pressing ctrl+s for saving or just closing the editor long waiting times.
No access to other editor instances or the browser window except via the task bar.
Trying to close those files not changed and not necessary any more via the task bar
=> no reaction.

After a while error message in separate small window.

Yesterday waiting times after saving or just closing became very long.
I cleaned up the temp directories (erased about 50 scp* subdirectories)
That seemed to help this morning.

Tried to close one and got a frozen window.
Could not change to another winscp editor window: got always the frozen window.
Tried to close another winscp windows of wich I was sure that it was saved to clean desktop.

The problem happens rarely. I cannot reproduce it.

I frequently experience no reponse of all open windscp windows. I dont know how to reproduce it - but i will try to describe what happens before:
Usually that occurs when i have lots of windows open including at least one windscp internal editor, but also other independent alppications.
I change between windows with alt+tab. Most of the time this works fine but sometimes when I try to return to the internal editor I do not get the editor window but the wind-scp browser which then does not respond. Changing to other non win-scp windows is possible but all wind-scp internal editors lead to the winscp-browser. This time it was possible to close one internal editor via the windows task bar (click on x symbol) but when trying to close the second I got an error 'unzulässiger Speicherzugriff' (=Invalid access to memory). But also the window with this error message was frozen - so I could not send this message. I tried a screen shot, but that did not work as well (no image in the clipboard). But this somehow erased the error message (which had some more text) and brought up this second one.
I have the feeling that these frozen internal editors occur when I was too long away from the internal editor and the host closed the connection for some reason.

Following steps led to this Problem:

Adding more than 10 files to the upload queue.
Editing a textfile and save it.
Open the textfile and try to edit it another time.
Maybe its the problem if the edited file hasn't been written to the drive, the 2nd atttempt to overwrite it causes the problem

OK, only weird thing that happened that I was working with big log file, WinSCP asked me many times if I wanted to save the changes, I couldn't click neither button but after like hitting ESC 10 times it disappeared. After that, anytime I bring main window to the front, this bug appears.

I can send you full dump from the exact place where access violation appeared but it's rather large.

Use WinSCP to view a remove file, attempt to close the file. The hour glass keeps spinning, the window freezes before it finally closes.
