@TerraMae: I'm sorry you feel offended. But I did not made the codes up to annoy you. The codes are calculated from Microsoft locale codes/API.
As you can see for example here:

The list shows Brazilian Portuguese as the default Portuguese and Portugal Portuguese as a variation.
Sorry for that. But I'm reluctant to implement an exception in WinSCP code just for a technicality like a translation file extension is. Infallibly, such change would introduce some hard-to-find bug and in the end annoy much more people, than .ptg file extension does.

I'm writing in English for your understanding.

1st, let me congratulate you for this great piece of software. It is, indeed, something very well thought and done. But, as multi-region supporting software, should be careful to not invade certain areas if not aware of what they represent.

You should not ask -What's the point- but try to see -why-. After many approaches, your software is still using "ptg" to Portuguese (here, since 2009?!).

Assuming "ptg" is, at least, OFFENSIVE. The international code in ALL applications and regulations is "PT" or "PT-PT" when you reference Portuguese and apart from what is spoken and written in Brazil.

Felling you are careless on what you're doing to us, how would you fell if I say that it is not "CZ" but "CZG" with G for German? After all, they were there during WWII. And --Why not-- "CZR"? THAT, I'm sure, wouldn't be nice.

Your software tells literally that Portuguese is the brasilian language and Portugal does not matter. Don't you fell strange so many people offering to translate to Portuguese? -Why?- And people have been very respectfully although the way this is managed.

There's always space for improvement and after showing this posts to my Czech colleagues, that live and work here, in Porto, they couldn't be more ashamed by the way a matter like this is treated by you, a site admin and developer.

Hi, it's true, need revision.

There are parts of the translation in the old orthographic agreement.
It's needed:
- Review by the current spelling agreement.
- Standardization of some technical terms.
- Some Portuguese characters are not being visualized.

A tradução não é o maior problema.
Depois da tradução feita, terá que se fazer uma revisão total por dois motivos:

- Alguns termos técnicos ou foram alterados ou estão a ser traduzido de forma diferente.
- Revisão para o novo acordo ortográfico (o que só posso lamentar....mas é o que está em vigor)

e de seguida uma verificação de erros.
