I'm trying to connect to an old Drobo B800FS, 64% full 36% free space.

I am currently trying to copy files onto it from Windows Explorer, and for some weird reason despite there bring plenty of room on it, the Drobo grinds to a halt. Then Explorer complains the Drobo is full and the copy stops.

Before the Explorer copy stopped, I tried to connect using WinSCP, the SFTP connection to the Drobo was painfully slow while trying to connect with WinSCP, the initial connection dialog never completes, resulting in this error.

Once the explorer file copy fails, WinSCP will quickly connect to the Drobo no problem. It seems the delayed response from the Drobo causes WinSCP to throw this error.

I need to do a factory reset on the Drobo, as folders suddenly empty, and you cant write to them. The fix is to delete the folder and recreate it.

I've not seen this problem before, but I don't think I've ever tried to connect with this scenario before.

My server was choking on a brutal calculation, one that I suspect required lots memory swaps to disk. I could not even SSH into the system to kill the process. (I could connect with SSH and give my password, but it failed to obtain a channel.) Refreshing a web page did work, eventually, so the thing wasn't quite dead. In any case, I tried refreshing the directory I happened to have open in WinSCP and it didn't respond, frozen, except that periodically, every 5 seconds or so, the title bar of WinSCP would update --- I saw "400 Reading Directory ... WinSCP" then with 500, 600, 700. During this, I clicked a few times on "Remote" to explore what options I might have there. No reaction. And then I got this error and here I am.

I navigated up the hierarchy from my website on the host server side by mistake. I was offered the chance to abort the connection, so I did. This threw the error.

We had a power outage when I was transffering files to the movies location on my raspberry pi 4. I open the movies file and it sends this message everytime and crashes the session instead now. Use a different computer and as soon as I open movies files location same thing. please help >

Have 34,555 files in remote directory, considerably more than the last time you connected via WINSCP. Connect via WINSCP so that the first thing it does is fetch a directory listing of the directory you last visited. Get impatient at how long it's taking and click the X to abort the connection. Then the reported error occurs.

When I waited patiently the file listing succeeded without error. So this may just be a matter of "user needs to clean out his temporary files or be more patient."
