Obtaining and Installing Translation
The multilanguage installation package contains all translations that were complete at time of its release. Other translations may be downloaded separately from translation page. On the page there may be complete translations that were finished after the release. You can download incomplete translations as well. Non-translated parts of the interface will be in English…
The translation is contained in separate file. It does not need to be installed in any way, it is enough to extract the file from the ZIP archive to the same directory where WinSCP executable is (i.e. installation directory). Except for the extension the file must have the same name as the executable.
The installer installs the executable into file WinSCP3.exe
. It corresponds to name of downloadable translation files. For example Czech translation has name WinSCP3.cs
. If your executable has different name, you need to rename the translation file to the same name. It is the case when you download the standalone executable with a name like winscp371.exe
.
Note that translation file for particular version of WinSCP cannot be used for any other version, neither older nor newer.
Switching Language
You will have the first change to select your preferred language during installation. If you download your preferred language later or change your mind, you can change the language using Language button on the bottom of Login dialog.
However note that the language chosen during installation will affect language of the icons the installer creates (program group in Start menu, “Send to” link, etc). The icons will not change anymore, if you switch your language later.
