What is "root group"? If you want to write Linux system files, you have to login with the root account.

How do I transfer files to /var with WinSCP

Hello, I've been using WinSCP for quite a while now, the way I use it is to transfer files from my machine (Windows) using the client to Ubuntu 20 vm where I authenticate with a different than root user and transfer the files in /home/transfer/ftp/myfiles.
However, I'd like to transfer files directly to / and the other system directories like /var /usr and so on. WHen I try that, I get; Copying files to remote side failed. Could not create file.
I think that WinSCP or It's user are missing privileges... I tried adding It's user to root's group but that solved nothing.
Thanks!
