a possible solution

So i switched the drag and drop method in the preferences to "Download files via temporary folder" , and it seems to have it fixed on the virtual machine.

Re: Dragging files in VMware causes temporary UI freeze

Thanks for your report.

Can you send me an email, so I can send you back a debug version of WinSCP to track the problem? Please include a link back to this topic in your email. Also note in this topic that you have sent the email. Thanks.

Dragging files in VMware causes temporary UI freeze

I noticed that when I use WinSCP 5.19.1 inside a VMware virtual machine (Windows 10) to access another machine outside the virtual machine and drag files, the UI freezes on a regular basis.
I connect to an external linux machine via SCP.

I do not encounter the same issue when i try to do the same on the host OS the virtual machine runs on.

It seems that after a very short period of no activity, the connection is closed and when I try to drag and copy a file from the remote machine to the desktop WinSCP freezes for 10 or more seconds until it eventually performs the file copy.
The same issue applies when i copy/move files within WinSCP using the built in file browser.

When I drag a file from the desktop to WinSCP, the copy happens instantly as expected.
So the issue seems to be only happening in one direction but not the other.
