Now I know why

I've been using WinSCP under Wine for years too and usually it's fine, but from time to time, it just hangs upon starting WinSCP. Thanks to this wincfg trick, I think I've figured out what is going on when it hangs. I changed the config to use Windows XP mode for the WinSCP that I have (6.3.3) and bingo! it starts and the first thing it says is: New version released, Upgrade/Close/Help. So I guess it was just freezing on user input never arriving, because I never knew it was asking me something.

This bug was introduced in recent version(s) of Wine

To use WinSCP, you can try using PlayOnLinux and install it using older Wine version (Wine 4.8 worked OK)

Re: WinSCP from Wine Linux

In general this should be working in Wine. I haven't seen a report of such problem before. But I cannot help further. You better seek a help at Wine.

WinSCP from Wine Linux

Hi,

I tried many WinSCP versions and Wine, and I have that problem, WinSCP has empty windows, no text. But the text/lines are there but invisible. Look on the left on the pictures.

Idea?
