So you do not even need to minimize WinSCP to reproduce the problem?

Yes, i have changed it to 125%.

As I have mentioned before, it happened on the old monitor as well, just not as often as it does now and I was using 100% scaling on that monitor.

Update:
I kept WinSCP open on the desktop and after I logged in today the behavior returned in WinSCP.

Do you perhaps have different display scaling on the new monitor?
Sopor

Maybe you could minimize WinSCP to systray and then change resolution on the screen.

Then restore WinSCP from the system tray and see if the behavior I’m experiencing occurs.
Sopor

Yes, i have a new monitor and with this monitor it happens everyday i unlock my computer.
With the old monitor, it could take several weeks even months before this happened.

I lock my computer everyday even with the old monitor, but when i log in and restored WinSCP from the notification area the window did open where it was before i minimized it or at least i couldn't see any difference.

With this new monitor it will restore up to the left on my desktop as i wrote in my previous message. I have to restart WinSCP so it get back to the middle of the desktop and to get rid of the issue with the context menu and rectangle selection.

I will keep WinSCP open on my desktop (not minimized) and see what happens tomorrow when I log in.

Both monitors are ASUS and i run them both on DisplayPort at 144 Hz. The only difference is 1080p on the old monitor and 1440p on the new monitor.

Thanks for all new details.
Can you please elaborate on this?:
I have another monitor and for some reason the behavior is different after it has gone to sleep.

Do you mean that you have a new monitor (and with the old one the problem did not occur or less often)? Or something else?
Sopor

Now i have found out when it happens.

When i leave my computer it will lock the screen after X minutes.

When I get back, I restore WinSCP from the notification area (systray), and when this happens, the WinSCP window does not return to its original position.

Instead, it gets restored high up on the left side of the desktop.
When this happens, WinSCP won’t show the context menu for 'Paste from clipboard' and it won’t let me use rectangle selection on files.

Why does it happen so often now?
I have another monitor and for some reason the behavior is different after it has gone to sleep.

And again!
Sopor

It’s happened again, and this time it only took four days (start time 2026-01-26 17:36:59).
I have attached the memory usage of WinSCP.

What more can I do to help you identify the problem?
martin

Thanks for the report. Next time it happens, can you check WinSCP memory consuption?
Sopor

Now it has happening again, can't select files and when this happens I can't paste to the window because the file will get selected and show the wrong context menu. "Paste from Clipboard" will not show up when I right click in the window. A restart of WinSCP will resolve the issue, but something is wrong because it shouldn't be like this.

WinSCP has now be running since 2025-11-26. The only way to reproduce the issue is to use WinSCP for an extended period without restarting it.

I'm running WinSCP 6.5.5

Re: Can't select files with the "rectangle"

Sorry, but I have no idea when it started to happen. My computer has been running for more than three weeks and so have WinSCP.

Re: Can't select files with the "rectangle"

Can you try to find out after what operation/event does the problem start?
Sopor

Can't select files with the "rectangle"

Hi!
Now I have got that weird behavior again that I can't click the left mouse button on a row and drag to select many files (rectangle).
When I do it, it will only select the file I click on.
I can of course go below all the files and click and drag upwards.
I'm pretty sure this behavior will go away if I restart WinSCP, but something happens after WinSCP has been running for some days (it has now been running for 21 days).
Yes, I restarted WinSCP and now I can select files again with the mouse (rectangle).
WinSCP 6.3.4
Windows 10 22H2

I think I have already reported this to you, but I couldn't find it.
Maybe it was in an email only, I'm not sure.
