BASH is recommended for WinSCP. If you need to have TCSH as your default user shell, force BASH for WinSCP on "SCP" tab of login dialog. Or use SFTP instead of SCP.
:D first of all thank you for programming winscp, it's very useful to me.
 i have a problem after changing the shell on server side from bash to tcsh, the following error message occurs when starting winscp:
ERROR LISTING DIRECTORY '/'.
UNEXPECTED DIRECTORY LISTING LINE 'INSGESAMT 74'.
INVALID RIGHTS DESCRIPTION 'NSGESAMT'
clicking OK establishes the connection showing "frozen" root directory without listing and without chance to change directory.
kind regards
