Re: log file extract

In my case, I had "Preserve timestamp" checked but not "Set permissions." By unchecking timestamp, it solved my problem and updated the file while preserving the group and owner. It seems that this combination is a little misleading since enabling Preserve timestamp also has the effect of overwriting the file with the new user in owner and group even though Set Permissions is not checked. In any case, your instructions worked for me. Just wanted to point out that the settings are a little misleading from my observation when editing a file with the built-in winscp text editor and saving it as someone who is not the current owner but is in the current group of the file.

Re: log file extract

HI

Here's an extract from the log file:

The user tells me that other members of their team, with (it appears) the same permissions, are able to overwrite the same file without any problems.

Thanks

Re: User can't overwrite file despite group 'w' permissions

Can you post a full error message? Or even a log file?

User can't overwrite file despite group 'w' permissions

I have a user who is trying to transfer a file from a Windows share to a Linux filesystem and even though they have write permissions on the file via group membership, they receive the following error:

Permission denied.
Error code: 3
Error message from server: Permission denied
Request code: 9

Another user with exactly the same permissions (same group memberships etc) has no trouble overwriting the file via WinSCP.

I'm stumped at the moment - any ideas?
