List of reply codes and meanings

Is there a list of error codes and meanings? I have an automated process using scripting/automation to synchronize local folders with folders on a FTP site that writes a log file. I would like to search this log file as a textstream for specific error codes (numbers) and then take appropriate action. For example, I'm guessing "Got reply 1004 to the command 16" means the local drive was unaccessible based on testing but I'd like to know for certain.
